Back in September we purchased a house in need of renovation and considerable internal restructuring and we sought a builder to turn our wish-list into reality.
Decrem were recommended to us by our friends who were employing them in a loft conversion and, seeing the work in progress, we were impressed by the high standard of workmanship and cleanliness.
Subsequent to an initial inspection, John was able to translate our jumbled notes into an impressively detailed specification and plans. He came up with plenty of creative suggestions which we found to be valuable reality checks against our ideas and designed an excellent 1st floor layout for the bedrooms and bathrooms using his CAD system. Right from the start we felt the project was in capable and safe hands, reassuring us as we were stuck in England during the renovation work.
The work proceeded with remarkably few hitches and unforeseen costs, given the extensive renovation work; we attributed this to Johns attention to detail and resourcefulness. Decrem used quality materials throughout the renovation resulting in an excellent finish.  John was also very helpful in organising other contractors and services right down to getting the Fosse emptied!
We were very impressed with John and especially his boys - they worked quietly, professionally and harmoniously together as a team. They were meticulous on their workmanship, attention to detail and cleanliness. We would not hesitate to use Decrem for future work and can heartily recommend their services.

Having lived here in Brittany for a number of years I have had the dubious pleasure of using both english and french tradesmen to do the odd job around the houses I have lived in.
Last month I needed some alterations done and contacted John, he came around to see me, on time, listened to what I needed, and produced a very clear and precise 'devis' within a couple of days. After accepting the quotation he gave me a date for the work, they arrived on the day, did the work to my total satisfaction and left. I can honestly say that you would not know they had even been, courteous, clean, tidy and very, very professional. After a seemingly never-ending procession of inefficient, incompetent, slapdash, expensive, ill-mannered builders, both French and English, registered or obviously trying to work “black”, it was such a relief to find John Decrem and family.
I first contacted John to discuss a possible eco-building project and was impressed by the interest he took in the idea, without any pressure.
Recently, I have had some minor internal and external works done, including carpentry, plastering and painting, and even a desperately thorny battle with a massive rambler rose, which Beau succeeded in taming and attaching to the house front very artisically, and am delighted. Apart from occasional sounds of hammering and sawing, you’d hardly know they were there, even when they’re working they keep everything tidy, the work was all done in a thorough and professional manner and they left the place cleaner than when they arrived! They are also polite, friendly and consider and discuss each job carefully before starting work, thus avoiding problems or unecessary expense.
I’ve now asked them to come to re-install my shower and repair the leaks and flood damage and both I and the insurance inspector are surprised that the estimate is so reasonable.
I would have no hesitation in recommending John Decrem and family for any building work, small or large.

We thought we had better give the boys a tip as they said you didn't pay them!!   On a serious note though, your boys did a really good job of the plastering etc.  Not only were they polite and worked hard they were so tidy with their tools and the work site.  You have certainly trained them well and you should be very proud of them.

John and his two sons, Dominic and Beau have been working  at our home for 3 months and have just finished the job, thank goodness! Not that we did not like them working here - just that the house was in a state of chaos for that period of time, but no fault of theirs.
They converted 3 velux windows into 3 dormer windows, thus increasing the size of all three rooms.  We have been delighted with the results and the quality of the workmanship.  It has also been a a pleasure to have all of them working here.  No loud radios, and they always cleaned up so well at the end of every day. We cannot recommend them too highly, and if anyone wants to come and see their work, we are more than happy for them to do so.

We really struggled to find a company who accepted to come and finish the garage conversion the previous owners of our house had started – the job was either too big, too small or simply too far away to interest them.  Then we found John and his sons whose only problem in our eyes was being English – we’d already had several encounters with British cowboys and were a little hesitant because of this.  Needless to say, John soon reassured me.  It was a huge relief while preparing the job to be able to communicate so quickly through the net – most French companies have yet to exploit this resource.  The plans were quickly agreed on and a start date was set.  They were brilliant; arrived on time, did a wonderful job, the place was spotless at the end of the day (even cleaner than normal!).  There were no unpleasant surprises, what was promised was done on time and was done very well, the price agreed on was the price we paid.  The result is even better than we had dared to hope for, the quality of the work is faultless, the attention paid to detail impressive, we’re delighted.  So delighted in fact that we’re already fixing up the
next job with them!
